Tesla CEO Elon Musk says he will be at the company's "Gigafactory 2" facility on South Park Avenue in Buffalo in April.
In a tweet Monday, Musk said "Tesla April company talk will be from our Giga New York factory, where we make SolarGlass & several other products. Will also offer customer & media tours."
Tesla's blog also quoted Asemblymember Sean Ryan (D-Buffalo), who it says is planning another visit to the Riverbend plant.
"We're happy Elon Musk had a secret visit last year, but we hope to walk into the factory and see a plan to hit employment numbers by April 1st. We're all rooting for Tesla to live up to its promise. We want WNY to be a solar hub and we want 1,400 people to have steady jobs, that's what we were promised," according to Ryan.
Ryan said the factory now has a dozen lines operating.
Tesla is under contract with New York State to meet a 1,460 employee level by April 1 or face a multi-million-dollar penalty. According to Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown, Tesla's workforce was at over 1,100 earlier this month.
