A man who oversaw a five-year revamp of the Buffalo Public Schools' operations and finances is the new President and Chief Executive Officer at First Niagara Financial Group. Gary Crosby has been serving as interim president and CEO of the bank since this past March and was chosen after an extensive internal and external search with a national executive search firm.
Crosby, 60, has extensive high-level managerial experience, including a previous stint as Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative and Operating Officer at First Niagara. He has also held numerous senior management positions with other financial and manufacturing organizations before joining First Niagara in 2009.
“Gary’s wide range of experience, his relationships inside and outside the company, and his demonstrated ability to deliver solid operating results make him the best person for the position,” Chairman of the Board G. Thomas Bowers said, in a statement.
Crosby takes over from John Koelmel, who parted ways with the bank earlier this year.
