Geico says it has plans to hire up to 800 workers in the Buffalo area this year. The announcement was made Friday morning during an event in which the insurance giant announced a $25,000 grant to the Buffalo Urban League for workforce training programs.
Lt. Governor Duffy told reporters Friday the potential of more local Geico jobs locally is great news. He offered "kudos" to both the local workforce and to the company for choosing to expand
"Buffalo and Western New York are producing the workforce that Geico loves," said Duffy. "That's why they're expanding here."
Geico has created 2,400 local jobs since it opened its regional center in Amherst in 2005.
