WBFO News

The Artie Awards (Buffalo's version of Broadway's Tony Awards) are important in recognizing outstanding work, but if theater people are anything, they are are people who need people. Yet, because of schedules the WNED|WBFO Artie Awards is the one night of the year when everybody can party. And if they can't kiss-kiss, hug-hug, squeeze one more into a selfie, then we'll wait until they can!

In this week's Theater Talk, Anthony Chase advises younger actors on how to get the most out of their (future) visits to Matinee in Buffalo's Theater District.

To keep up to date with local theater, subscribe to Anthony's free blog www.theatertalkbuffalo.com as well as to www.playbill.com for news of Broadway and other national goings on.

In the meantime, keep checking in with your favorite theaters' websites, where virtual performances are getting more and more technically savvy and entertaining. That includes The Alleyway Theatre with their 11 am "Sun.d.ay Brunch" series; MusicalFare Theatre with some cabarets; O'Connell & Company with Thursday night readings; and Shawfest which has produced two excellent cabarets so far.

Listen for Theater Talk, Friday morning at 6:45 and 8:45 during Morning Edition.
