The 33rd “Big Shot” community photo project will focus on Old Fort Niagara next month.
Rochester Institute of Technology's annual photographic challenge aims to capture a dramatic nighttime image of the Niagara County historic landmark as it has never been seen before.
Built in 1726 in Youngstown, at the mouth of Lake Ontario, the fort is the oldest continusouly occupied military site in North America.
The “Big Shot” engages student and community volunteers to provide the primary light source for the image, while RIT photographers shoot an extended exposure, regardless of weather conditions.
The shoot is scheduled for Sept. 29 and will take place soon after sunset. Registration begins Sept. 1 on the fort's website.
