Lancaster's Flix theater to show 'The Interview'

Local moviegoers will get the chance to see "The Interview," after all.
Sony Pictures announced Tuesday it has reconsidered its decision to cancel the film's release and the comedy, starring James Franco and Seth Rogen, will be released on a limited basis nationwide. It will open at the Flix Stadium 10 on Transit Road in Lancaster on Friday, December 26.

"A lot of people were upset that they weren't going to get the opportunity to see it. So we're happy that we're given them that opportunity now," said Dipson Theatres vice president Bryan Spokane.

Hackers, last week, threatened violence against theaters showing the film, which depicts a farcical assassination attempt against North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

The nation's largest theater chains dropped it and then Sony canceled the film's release. That decision drew widespread criticism, including from President Barack Obama.

"I think it's best to let the customers decide whether they want to see the movie or not," said Spokane.

A manager at the North Park Theatre on Hertel Avenue told WBFO it will not be showing the movie, due to an existing commitment to another film.
