Shea’s Performing Arts Center has set an all-time record for season tickets sold at the downtown theater.  13,644 season tickets have been sold for the new season that kicks off this week.  That includes more than 2,950 new season tickets.

Shea's said it has sold the most sold in a 'single season in the 27-year-history of Shea's offering a subscription season'.  Shea's opened it's 2014-15 Broadway Season this week with Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.  That show has posted the highest one-week gross on the tour.

"Shea’s Board of Trustees, our staff and I are very grateful to the community for their continued support," said Anthony Conte, president of Shea's.

The last time Shea's hit a subscription record was during the 2011-12 Season, when 13,092 season tickets were sold.

“I continue to be amazed by the extraordinary support for our Broadway Series from our patrons in Western New York, Their patronage allows us to bring the very best of Touring Broadway, and establishes Buffalo  as one of the Best Broadway Cities on the Road,” said Shea’s Co-Presenter Albert Nocciolino.

Shows for the 2014-15 Broadway Season:  Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat Oct. 7-12; Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella, Dec. 2-7; Motown The Musical Jan. 20-25; Chicago, Feb. 17-22; The Phantom of The Opera, March 18-29 and 2013 Tony Award Winner for Best Musical Kinky Boots, April 21-26. Special Engagements include: Mamma Mia, Million Dollar Quartet and The Book Of Mormon.

Shea's also reached another milestone with the restoration of the auditorium. The project was completed at the end of August.

As the city of Buffalo gets ready to reopen traffic on Main Street in the theater district, Shea's will also conduct exterior improvements to its  Smith and 710 Main Theatre buildings on Main Street.  Shea's says that would include a new sign for the Smith Theatre and the Shea’s Restaurant Della Mostra and new exterior lighting around the 710 Main Theatre marquee.
