Shea's unveiled its 2014-2015 season Wednesday night, in a schedule that mixes recent Broadway hits with old favorites.Music from Motown: The Musical entranced Shea's season-ticket holders last night as the theater announced its upcoming season to 800 patrons who buy the entire package.
It's a season filled with new shows like Motown, Kinky Boots, and Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella along with familiar productions like The Phantom of the Opera, Chicago, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
There is also a two-week run of the massive hit The Book of Mormon.
"We heard so much from people who wanted to come and couldn't get tickets. It sold out very quickly," Shea's President Anthony Conte said. "That's what prompted us to bring it back again."
Producer and presenter Albert Nocciolino says Buffalo is a great theater town for both patrons and performers.
"What's happening here in Buffalo is happening across the country and on Broadway. People are going to the theater. They seem to go to the theater when times are bad and when times are good. It's a great form of entertainment. It's still the best form of live entertainment," Nocciolino said. "We're seeing a lot of success and an a tremendous amount of support."
Shea's has nearly 13,000 season subscribers and Nocciolino and Conte say this is a great town for audiences and for the performers who look out into enthusiastic crowds and a beautiful theater.
