New York State encouraging students to visit state parks

http://parks.ny.gov/environment/connect-kids.aspx

If you have a fourth grader then now is the time to take advantage of the great outdoors.

This year New York State parks will accept the National Park Service's Every Kid in the Park pass in an effort to connect students with nature. The new program encourages students to visit New York State parks, historic sites and public lands.

Upon presentation the pass allows fourth graders and their families vehicular entry into parks. Fourth graders must be present and the pass only covers passengers in the vehicle. In addition the pass allows up to three adults entry to historic sites for free tours.

New York State is also setting aside $500,000 to fund transportation for field trips to parks, nature centers or historic sites.

Students can retrieve the free pass online at Everykidinthepark.gov.
