New England Patriot quarterback Tom Brady has caused outrage across Western New York

On Wednesday Brady made a comment about Buffalo hotel accomodations.

As part of a Super Bowl media event, Brady was talking about his parents' support of his career in college and the NFL.

"My mom were there at home football game and a lot of road games too so, and even when I started my pro-career he would travel to Buffalo, and I don't know if you guys have ever been to the hotels in Buffalo but they are not the nicest places in the world," said Brady.

Brady later claimed that he didn't mean what he stated.  But that didn't stop U-S Senator Kirstin Gillibrand from mobilizing a defense.

"He is just bitter that he got beaten so badly the last time he was in Buffalo," said Gillibrand.

Reports surfaced Thursday that the football star has apologized for his remarks.

Still his comments did not sit well with the Buffalo area community.   visit Buffalo Niagara has issued the following statement:

“From the Mansion on Delaware Avenue, which is a member of the Historic Hotels of America and a AAA Four Diamond recipient, to the National Historic Landmark Roycroft Inn in East Aurora, Buffalo Niagara is filled with excellent hotel options to meet the needs of the most refined travelers,” said Ed Healy, V.P. of Marketing for Visit Buffalo Niagara. “P.S. – go Giants!”

And the staff at the award-winning Mansion on Delaware Avenue in Buffalo said it  would like to set the record straight.

“Tom is misinformed,” said Geno Principe, proprietor. “Much like the Patriots, the Mansion also strives for excellence. From international and national celebrities and dignitaries, business travelers and locals, our guests stay with us for a unique, luxury experience.  Often times, they return because of the personal attention to detail and the renowned service by our butlers.”

“We invite Tom Brady and his entire family to a complimentary stay at the Mansion.  There are not only nice places to stay in Buffalo, there’s so much more – great food, great people, great culture. We welcome him to come visit us,” added Principe.
