Forget The Tux, Little Blue Penguins Need Sweaters

RENEE MONTAGNE, HOST:

Good morning. I'm Renee Montagne.

The Little Blue Penguin, so tiny they used to be called the fairy penguin, are in need of sweaters. That's because they're being rescued from a big oil spill off the coast of New Zealand and the sweaters keep the penguins from preening and so ingesting the oil. The environmental news site grits.org is putting out the call for the teensy sweaters with holes for wings using a photo of one penguin in a wool tuxedo. It's MORNING EDITION.
