Bills draft Marcel Dareus

By Bert Gambini

Buffalo, NY – The Buffalo Bills took a defensive lineman in the first round of Thursday's NFL draft.

Marcel Dareus was a three-year starter at Alabama and the team's MVP in the 2010 National Champion game against Texas. Bills GM Buddy Nix said Buffalo had the third choice of the first round and was fortunate that Dareus didn't go to Carolina or Denver who selected first and second.

The last time the Bills selected this high in the first round they also took a defensive lineman. Bruce Smith was the first overall selection of 1985's NFL draft.
