Buffalo, NY – United States Congressman Brian Higgins appeared in Buffalo Wednesday to announce the latest work on waterfront development, but also had some things to say on issues including rising fuel prices.
Higgins calls paying more than $4.00 per gallon "unacceptable" as the economy moves sluggishly along. The money being spent on gas, Higgins said is money families are not spending on groceries or other needs.
While noting our nation consumes far more than what it produces, Higgins notes some of the circumstances behind rising gas prices are beyond the nation's control.
Higgins called for continued support of alternative fuels and fuel conservation but stopped short of endorsing the idea of tapping into the nation's oil reserves to create more supply in an attempt to lower prices.
