Gunfire kills Buffalo man

By Eileen Buckley

Buffalo, NY – Buffalo Police continue to investigate the city's latest homicide.

A man in his early 30's was shot in the vicinity of Main Street and Glenwood Avenue just Tuesday morning.

Police said multiple shots were fired at the victim. He is identified as Alonzo Scott. Scott was rushed to the Erie County Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Officers from the Niagara Frontier Transit Authority and Buffalo police departments responded to calls of shots being fired.

An arrest has been made. 28 year old Dwyne Gray was arrested. Chief of Detectives Dennis J. Richard said police believe the suspect fled the shooting scene on foot, to the nearby Utica Street subway station. He was later chased by police, when he ran from the Main-Delavan subway station. He was pursued over several blocks, by NFTA, Buffalo and Canisius College Public Safety officers.

The suspect was located on Purdy Street, and brought to Buffalo police headquarters, and later charged with the murder.

"A handgun, believed to be the murder weapon, was also recovered by police in the course of their investigation," Richards said.
