Buffalo, NY – A long labor dispute at a local television station has ended with a new four year agreement.
WKBW-TV and NABET-CWA (National Association of Broadcast Employees and Technicians- Communication Workers of America) Local 25, announced Friday that they have reached terms for a new agreement covering the news and technical employees of Channel 7.
The deal has been reached three years after the union contract expired. The new agreement provides wage and benefit increases for union employees.
The contract covers station engineers, graphic artists and production photographers. It also covers Channel 7 employees who work on the assignment desk, reporters, multi-media journalists, news photographers, producers and anchors.
A news released was issued by Channel 7 stating that both parties expressed their satisfaction that they have reached new agreement, and are looking forward to a cooperative and productive working relationship moving forward.
"The WKBW family looks forward to continue working together under this new contract, serving our viewers," said WKBW President and General Manager Bill Ransom
"We are pleased to have a new contract for our members," said NABET-CWA representative Bill Murray.
