Remembrance service for children

By Mark Wozniak

Buffalo, NY – Wednesday night marked the annual remembrance service to honor the memories of children who have died.

Parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends gathered at the Hellenic Orthodox Church on Delaware Avenue at West Utica Street in Buffalo for a non-denominational service.

There were songs, prayers, and reflections, plus a candle lighting ceremony and slide show featuring the children.

A total of 143 names of kids of all ages were called. For each one, surviving family members came up to light a candle. It was a time of shared grief, and of demonstrating a love that will never end.
