Buffalo, NY – An off-duty Buffalo police officer shot two intruders at his home Wednesday morning, killing one of them.
The shooting occurred shortly before 9:30am on Burlington Avenue in the city's Kensington-Bailey neighborhood.
Authorities say the officer fired at the two men as they tried to break in through a side door. He reportedly used his personal weapon.
The surviving man underwent emergency surgery at the Erie County Medical Center.
Police have not released the officer's identity. The department's Professional Standards Division has launched an investigation.
