Buffalo, NY – Western New York Time Warner cable subscribers can once again watch Channels 4 and 23. The stations were turned back on early Wednesday morning.
Time Warner and LIN-TV, owner of the stations, both say the new settlement is fair. Details were not released because of a confidentiality clause. But LIN was pressing for compensation from Time Warner to carry its television stations.
"Programming expenses are one of our biggest expenses," said Time Warner Cable spokesman Alex Dudley. "We're a retailer, and increases in cost to us do make it down to the consumer."
The deal was worked out shortly after midnight after several days of round-the-clock negotiations.
It comes just a day before the critical November ratings sweeps period is scheduled to begin.
