Falconer, NY – The oldest company in Western New York is celebrating its bicentennial this month. Fancher Chair in the Chautauqua County village of Falconer has been operating continuously since the company was founded in 1807.

Fancher Chair started out as a saw mill. Attorney Edward Work played a key role in providing lumber to people settling in the Jamestown area. Today, the company is owned and operated by Bruce Erickson. He says the company's product line has changed through the years.

Today Fancher Chairs manufactures -- well -- chairs. It's make chairs for libraries, customer seating for businesses and furnishings for the home. Its clients are some of the most famous names in furniture, including Stickley and Ethan Allen.
