Sabres Fans Not Giving Up On Team

Buffalo, NY – For the most part, Sabres fans say they are not given up on their beloved hockey team. In fact, one fan even sent Sabres coach Lindy Ruff a letter of encouragement.

Fans may be frustrated with the three games to none series lead the Ottawa Senators have over the Sabres. But some still believe in miracles and plan to be out in full force Wednesday night rooting on the team right here in Buffalo. Janet Pietras faxed a letter to coach Ruff after Monday's night's loss. The letter says she is still behind his efforts and the team.

Pietras says she attended Monday night's packed "house party" at HSBC Arena, and has every intention of being there again Wednesday night. Pietras says she has been a long-time Sabres fan, and no matter what happens, she is still backing the team. Pietras makes no excuses for the Sabres poor showing, but she is placing some of the blame on the Canadian referees.

Meanwhile, other Sabres fans are already concerned about next season. They've started a grassroots campaign in hopes that co-captains Daniel Briere and Chris Drury remain on the team for the 2007-08 season. They've established an online petition for fans to sign.
