Investigators Identify Person of Interest in Case of Missing Women

By Mark Scott

Buffalo, NY – There's still no sign of a missing Marilla woman. Nancy Phelps, 69, was last seen on Sunday.

Authorities held a late afternoon news conference Thursday to say they have identified a person of interest in her disappearance but wouldn't say who that person is. Sheriff Timothy Howard also announced investigators discovered some personal items belonging to Phelps on Irish Road in the Town of Colden.

Howard said that discovery has them investigating a possible link between Phelps' disappearance and that of 87-year-old Geraldine Jackson, who was found missing from her burned-out home in Colden in late December.
