Buffalo, NY – Buffalo Schools Superintendent James Williams welcomed students to the district's new Math, Science and Technology Preparatory School Monday.
About 160 students were officially beginning school as part of the new prep school's extended school year. The students will be attending classes on the Buffalo State campus until September 6th, when they move to their new home at Seneca Vocational High on East Delavan Avenue.
The sixth and ninth graders were accepted into the school after applying and being randomly selected by computer.
Williams said the new school is a key part of his plan to revitalize city schools.
Students will have a longer school day and attend classes on Saturdays twice a month. Students will also be issued laptop computers and uniforms.
