Buffalo, NY – A major power outage affecting the University at Buffalo South Campus has knocked WBFO off the air.
Power has been off since shortly after 4pm Friday. According to UB's Public Safety office, power may be out through late Saturday afternoon, affecting our popular Weekend Edition Saturday, Car Talk and Blues shows.
A back-up generator is powering our studios in Allen Hall. But a generator in Kimball Hall, site of our studio-to-transmitter link, is inoperable. This disruption in a crucial link is, therefore, affecting our ability to send a signal to our North Campus transmitter.
We offer a sincere apology for this lengthy outage, but for now, it is out of our control and is in the hands of National Grid repair crews. Studio operators are standing by Saturday to immediately restore our service once power is restored.
