Buffalo, NY – The bi-national panel that is deciding what the new bridge between Buffalo and Fort Erie will look like appears to support construction of a cable-stay bridge.
The Peace Bridge Design Selection Jury met again Thursday. Its members are still deliberating between two or three towers for the cable-stay concept.
The 32-member jury had decided last month to retain the existing bridge and build a new one to complement it. But any new bridge would not be a twin of the existing one. That was eliminated from further consideration Thursday as were most of the arched bridge concepts.
A final decision from the jury is expected next month.
