Clinton Promotes Life Sciences in Buffalo

By Jillian Bannister

Buffalo, NY – U.S. Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton joined with local development officials Monday in hosting a conference in downtown Buffalo that showcased the cutting-edge medical technology industry that exists in the region.

The conference attracted potential investors from across the state to get a first-hand look at the work taking place in Buffalo. Despite the area's problems, Clinton says Buffalo can still compete for outside investors as long as they know about the opportunities.

"You know, every investment has to stand on its own merits. People don't make investments here just to be nice. They have to feel they're going to get a return on their investment. But I think we can cross that threshold," Clinton said. "I think we can be competitive with investments everywhere, and that is what I'm hoping will come from this is to bring all of this to public awareness."

Clinton says Monday's efforts may spur job growth and investment in the life sciences, which will in turn help the local economy.
