Buffalo, NY – Firefighters in the Village of Springville quickly put out a blaze at the Bertrand Chaffee Hospital early Friday morning.
The fire broke out in the hospital's boiler room around 4:00am. Hospital CEO Steven Krisiak says seven patients on the second floor were evacuated to other parts of the hospital.
"The smoke in one section got very heavy," Krisiak explained. "So, we moved three patients to our critical care unit and three others to our skilled nursing facility."
But Krisiak says there were no injuries and everyone seemed fine.
"I must say the patients were in good spirits when I came in," Krisiak said. "They were up and about. They were looking good."
The blaze was contained to the boiler room. The hospital is in the process of cleaning up and trying to remove odor of smoke.
Fire investigators are searching for a cause.
