Buffalo, NY – The Studio Arena Theatre presents "A Raisin in the Sun" by Lorraine Hansberry through February 8th. The production is directed by Ron O.J. Parsons.
Hansberry's ground-breaking drama about the differing, and frustrated, aspirations of parents and children received the New York Critics Circle Award and changed the American theatre forever. Each member of the Younger family has his or her own idea of how to spend their father's life insurance settlement to the betterment of the family. Will they open their own business, send daughter Beneatha to medical school, or move to an all-white suburb of Chicago? Set at the beginning of the Civil Rights Movement, RAISIN seeks answers to the questions posed in Langston Hughes' poem, Harlem: What happens to a dream deferred?
