Buffalo, NY – The Common Council plans to work on its own version of a city of Buffalo financial plan.
Mayor Masiello has already submitted two such proposals to the state control board overseeing city finances. Both have been returned for more revisions.
Now, nine of 13 Council members say they oppose major portions of Masiello's latest proposal.
Council approval is needed to borrow $8 million to close the revenue shortfall in the Masiello plan. Council members must also approve layoffs in the fire and building inspection departments.
The Council's budget committee was scheduled to meet Thursday to discuss the city's ongoing fiscal troubles.
