Chicago, IL – A 24-year-old Buffalo man is among a dozen people killed in a porch collapse in Chicago early Sunday morning.
Henry Wischerath was among 12 killed and 57 others injured when a third-floor porch crashed down on other porches just after midnight. Police say most of the dead appeared to have been crushed on the lower porches.
Wischerath was studying law at the University of Chicago, and his father said that he hoped to return to Buffalo after completing his law degree.
The upper porch was crowded with dozens of people in their late teens and early 20s in the city's fashionable Lincoln Park neighborhood, not far from Wrigley Field.
