Buffalo, NY – Erie County executive Joel Giambra has issued an apology for remarks he made during a school forum on Saturday.
At issue was a comment he made saying he had transferred his children out of the Waterfront Elementary School in Buffalo because they were "fearful of black kids."
Giambra apologized for the clumsiness of his remarks, saying he did not intend to offend anyone, especially children.
The county executive had met with senior faith leaders to discuss the situation before issuing the apology.
But Giambra, an advocate of school choice and state vouchers, says he does not apologize for what he describes as the incompetent bureaucrats in the school system.
