Former Buffalo Bartenders Has Hit Off-Broadway Show

By Joyce Kryszak

Buffalo, NY – There's a new off Broadway hit that gets both its talent and its inspiration from Buffalo. Lou Mustillo started out as a bartender in Buffalo. And now the successful actor and writer is serving up that special brand of expertise in his one man show - Bartenders. The show, which opened off Broadway in September, has been playing to brilliant reviews and sold out crowds ever since.

Mustillo's characters - all six of them - are believable and revealing. That's because they're based on men Mustillo knew growing up in Buffalo, the son of a career bartender. Mustillo's father tended bar for 52 years at places like the old Hotel Stuyvesant and the Park Lane. And he taught his son everything he knew. Mustillo, now an accomplished actor, says he wanted to pay tribute to his father and to his roots.
