US Provides $100,000 for Metro Station Redesign

By Kate Fisher

Buffalo, NY – Congressman Jack Quinn presented the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority with $100,000 Monday to finance a study of the Allen-Hospital and Summer-Best Metro Rail stations.

These stations serve the new Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus. The campus has about 8,000 employees and covers 104 acres. Campus Chairman Thomas Beecher said the study will find ways of making the Metro stations a gateway to the campus.

"The study is going to show the NFTA how it can make the station an even better part of the medical campus, part of the transit system, and tie the neighborhoods of Allentown, the Fruit Belt and the medical campus together," Beecher said.

Congressman Quinn said the redevelopment of these two stations will open up new opportunities, bringing in new business, storefronts, housing and investments in the medical campus.
