Buffalo, NY – Accused murderer James Kopp has been indicted on a new murder charge nearly a month after admitting in a jailhouse interview that he shot Dr. Barnett Slepian.
Kopp was arraigned in Erie County Court Tuesday where he pleaded not guilty to a new charge of second degree intentional murder and reckless murder with depraved indifference to human life.
Although prosecutors aren't allowed to discuss the case, the latest indictment is clearly linked to Kopp's admissions in a Buffalo News interview last month.
Kopp said he carried out the October 1998 sniper attack that killed Slepian. Kopp said he meant only to wound the doctor.
