Local Native Sheds Light on Dirty Business in New Novel

By Joyce Kryszak

Buffalo, NY – The rash of corporate scandals and corruption has been a disturbing revelation for the country.

But for someone who has seen the business underworld - and has a flair for writing - the scandals make for good fiction.

Western New York native and former Levi Strauss marketing executive Jim Chriss turned his experience into a new suspense novel.

He started out in life winning writing awards, and dreaming of a career in journalism.

But Chriss said he succumbed to the lure of a more lucrative career in the corporate world.

He became a top marketing executive with Levi Strauss, and went on to lead a company in Silicon Valley and his own consulting group.

He's lived and worked all over the world. But growing up in a modest home in North Tonawanda taught Chriss all he needed to know to survive in the corporate world - and to write his novel,Guardian Angel.

WBFO's Joyce Kryszak talked with the author about his book, and about the ethical lessons it has to teach.

You can hear the interview by clicking on the "Listen" icon above.

The book is now available at local bookstores. And, for the next week, the author will be too. Chriss will be reading from his book at 7:00 tonight at Talking Leaves Books on Elmwood. Next Wednesday night he'll be at Barnes and Noble on Niagara Falls Boulevard. And Saturday, November 30 he'll offer a reading at the Book Corner on MAin Street in Niagara Falls.
