Buffalo, NY – Former Erie County Legislature Chairman Leonard Lenihan is expected to take over the reins of the county's Democratic party.
Lenihan, a compromise candidate, Monday gained the endorsement of his remaining rival, James Keane, and incumbent chairman G. Steven Pigeon announced he would not seek reelection.
The Buffalo News reports that Lenihan gained the support of Keane after promising to build consensus in the badly split local party.
Local committee members are expected to make the decision official next week.
