"Father Mychal Judge: An Authentic American Hero"

By Mark Scott

Buffalo, NY – Fr. Mychal Judge became an instant American hero when he died a year ago at the site of the World Trade Center. But he was already widely respected in New York City prior to the terrorist attacks. A new book profiles the Franciscan priest who served as Catholic chaplain of the FDNY.

Michael Ford, a BBC journalist specializing in religious affairs, is author of "Father Mychal Judge: An Authentic American Hero." Ford spoke at St. Bonaventure University on Monday where Fr. Judge once studied. He interviewed fellow friars, close friends and firefighters in putting together his biographical account of the priest.
