Buffalo, NY – Congresswoman Louise Slaughter, who hails from suburban Rochester, made her first campaign appearance in Buffalo Tuesday - and will return Wednesday.
Slaughter is running for re-election in the new 28th district, which is a combination of her current district and that of longtime Tonawanda Democrat John LaFalce.
LaFalce decided to retire rather than take her on in a primary fight.
Two potential party challengers, State Senator Byron Brown and Erie County Legislator Charles Swanick, withdrew their bids Monday.
Slaughter promised to work on behalf of Erie and Niagara Counties if reelected to a new term.
