Slaughter Promises to Represent Buffalo Well

By Mark Scott

Buffalo, NY – Congresswoman Louise Slaughter is introducing herself to Buffalo area residents she hopes to represent after this Fall's election. Slaughter has served in Congress for 16 years. But she is an unknown entity for many voters here who have been represented by the retiring John LaFalce.

The redistricting plan approved by the State Legislature and signed by Governor Pataki put Slaughter and LaFalce, two veteran Democrats, into the same district. The new 28th congressional district stretches from Buffalo to Rochester.

LaFace decided to retire rather than challenge Slaughter in a primary. But a primary is still a possibility if two Buffalo area Democrats decide to enter the race.

Representative Slaughter joined us in our studio to talk about her upcoming campaign. Click the "listen" icon above to hear her interview with WBFO's Mark Scott.
