State Assembly Votes to Increase Route 219 Speed Limit

By Mark Wozniak

Albany, NY – The state Assembly has approved a measure to raise the speed limit on Route 219 from 55 to 65 miles per hour, from Orchard Park southward.

The measure, sponsored by Assemblyman Richard Smith, D-Hamburg, is expected to be passed in the state Senate, where it has primary backing from Lancaster Republican Dale Volker.

Several other rural expressways in the state already have 65 mile per hour limits.
