Buffalo, NY – A study by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has confirmed what many of us already knew -- Buffalo hospitals are in crisis. But one local expert says simply closing hospitals is not the entire answer to solving the problem.
There are plenty of recent examples of the crisis facing local hospitals. Kaleida Health tried to move Children's Hospital to one of its adult facilities to help cut costs. Only after a public outcry did the state come through with plans to help Kaleida resolve its financial problems while keeping Children's on Bryant Street.
Then Tuesday came word that Sheehan Memorial Hospital was seeking Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
