The National Lacrosse League, which includes the Buffalo Bandits, Rochester Knighthawks and Toronto Rock franchises, has announced plans to resume play.
The League said the 2021-22 season will resume the weekend of Dec. 3-4. Each team will play 18 regular season games, and the season will be followed by playoffs and a championship series.
“During what has been a very challenging year and uncertain times we are thrilled to finally announce that the NLL will return to play in December. We want to thank everyone that has helped us navigate the last 12 months with tough decisions, learning new innovations and, most importantly, still finding a way to grow,” said NLL Commissioner Nick Sakiewicz.
Two new franchises, one in Albany and the other in Fort Worth, TX, will bring the league total to 14 clubs.
The COVID-19 pandemic abruptly ended the league's season last year. That and other factors led to the full cancellation of play this season.
