The NHL Scouting Combine is in Buffalo this weekend. With it comes the Stanley Cup and more than 100 young players looking to impress teams before the 2017 NHL Draft later this month in Chicago.
Future players at the event are not only physically tested, but interviewed by teams as well. Buffalo Sabres new GM Jason Botterill and his staff have taken a laid back approach when talking to some of this years top prospects. That is a different approach from prior Sabres regimes.
The event in downtown Buffalo features a street hockey rink, a virtual reality mini Zamboni where fans race each other to resurface the ice, and a special net to donate used hockey equipment.
The Stanley Cup is on display until 5 PM this afternoon as part of the "NHL Centennial Fan Arena".
The NHL Scouting Combine will remain in Buffalo through 2019.
