Dareus enters rehab; Bills beat Giants 21-0

For the second week in a row, a Buffalo Bills pre-season game was overshadowed by off-the-field developments.

Last week it was the announcement of a change in the stadium name. Saturday, the Bills announced defensive lineman Marcel Dareus would enter a rehabilitation facility to deal with his substance abuse issues. This follows his suspension for the first four games of the season for his violation of the league's substance abuse policy.

After the game, coach Rex Ryan said the team is coming together as a family to back Dareus.

"We support Marcel 100 percent," Ryan said. "Our thoughts are with him. This is more important than four games."

The Bills also announced the team has released second-year running back Karlos Williams, who is also facing a similar suspension for a substance abuse violation.

At the newly named New Era Field, the Bills shut out the New York Giants 21-0.

The defense played superbly in keeping the Giants off the scoreboard, forcing four turnovers. Quarterbacks Tyrod Taylor and E.J. Manuel each had a touchdown pass.

Buffalo travels to Washington for a pre-season game Friday night.
