Former Sabre, Montador, dead at 35

Former Buffalo Sabres defenseman, Steve Montador, has died at age 35.Montador was reportedly found dead at his Mississauga home at 2 a.m. Sunday morning. According to local police, the incident is being treated treated as a sudden death investigation.

The Vancouver native played defense for a number of different teams over his 11-season career with the National Hockey League. He played for the Sabres from 2009 to 2011, before joining the Chicago Blackhawks where he ended his time in the NHL.

The Buffalo Sabres released a statement on Montador's passing, saying the team is deeply saddened. They say Montador was a passionate player and valued member of the family who will be missed.

Avery began his broadcasting career as a disc jockey for WRUB, the University at Buffalo’s student-run radio station.
