Trade talk for Miller

As the National Hockey League Trade deadline approaches, Buffalo Sabres general manager Tim Murray confirmed to reporters Tuesday night that he is looking at possible trades for goalie Ryan Miller and Steve Ott. Both are unrestricted free agents.

Murray spoke with reporters prior to the start of Tuesday night's game against the Carolina Hurricanes at First Niagara Center.  The Sabres returned from the Olympic break beating Carolina  3-2 win.

Much of the post-game conversation centered on the game's first star, Miller, but his play only added to growing speculation that his days in Buffalo are numbered.  Murray told reporters that he is seeking a "proper" trade to move Miller to a playoff contender.

Murray was asked if he was actively pursuing a trade for Miller.

"Actively? No. I’m listening. I mean, we know and you guys know the teams that have interest on certain players and I’ve talked to those GMs before Sochi obviously and I’ve talked to a couple that have interest in different players. So I’ve talked to probably seven or eight GMs and that would entail probably 10 to 12 players so there has been quick talks today," said Murray.

After the game, Miller acknowledged that he is prepared to move on. Miller turned away 36 shots last night and notched a career-high two assists.  The trade deadline is  March 5 at 3 p.m.
