Press Pass: Buffalo Spree takes us 'on the water'

It was not that long ago that our access to the waterfront was limited. There were few places to enjoy the view, much less enjoying the water itself. The July issue of Buffalo Spree has a special section on how that has all changed. In this week's Press Pass with WBFO's Mark Scott, Spree Editor Elizabeth Licata says there are now many ways for people to experience our waterways.

Companies offering rentals -- from kayaks and canoes to paddle boats and water bikes -- are exploding. Kayaking around the USS Little Rock and The Sullivans at the Naval Park offers an amazing perspective of these hulking vessels.

There are plenty of beaches, from Wilson-Tuscarora State Park off Lake Ontario to the North to Sunset Beach off Lake Erie to the south. There's waterfront dining, too, including the River Grill in Tonawanda along the Niagara River.

Also in the July issue of Buffalo Spree, Elizabeth writes about this summer's restrospective of artist Robert Indiana at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery. Indiana is the artist behind the famous "LOVE" sculpture. He died earlier this year at the age of 89.

And Elizabeth says tickets are now available for the big summer party Friday, July 20 at Larkinville where Spree's 2018 Best of Western New York will be unveiled.
