Irish immigrants have played an important role in Buffalo's history since its earliest days. They were hard laborers, scooping grain on Buffalo's waterfront. Others became policemen and civic leaders. The October issue of Buffalo Spree explores Western New York's Irish heritage. In this week's Press Pass conversation with WBFO's Mark Scott, editor Elizabeth Licata says it's a heritage many celebrate.
Mark and Elizabeth also touch on the issue of recycling organic food waste. While other cities, including San Francisco, have implemented such a program, there are no municipalities in the Buffalo area doing so. Plus, the city of Buffalo does not have a composting facility.
