Lockport attorney will run for Corwin's Assembly seat

Republican Assemblymember Jane Corwin announced Tuesday she will not seek reelection to a fifth term in the 144th district. Lockport attorney Michael Norris, a former Niagara County Republican elections commissioner, has announced he is running to fill that seat.

Norris, who is 40 and unmarried, said in a prepared statement that he will push back against New York City special interests, work to end the tax and spend mentality of Albany, support real ethical reforms, and support a repeal of the SAFE act while protecting Second Amendment rights.

Norris became an elections commissioner in 1999, when he was 23. He also served as Niagara County GOP Chairman from 2009 to 2013.

In addition to being an attorney in private practice, he has served as attorney for the Town of Lockport and Somerset and village attorney for Cassadaga, in Chautauqua County.
