Erie County GOP Chair likes Rubio or Cruz for presidential nomination

The chairman of the Erie County Republican Party says he thought Tuesday night's GOP presidential debate was "outstanding."

Republican Chair Nick Langworthy says he believes the field will come down to two candidates, Senator Marco Rubio and Senator Ted Cruz.

"There's still many candidates in the race. I think we will start to see some of that field win out. Some of these candidates start to find a way to end their campaigns or run out of money, either way," said Langworthy.

"We've had four debates now and both Senator Rubio and Senator Cruz have had outstanding performances. I think Senator Rubio particularly has shown a very good depth of knowledge on nearly ever single issue that he's been presented with."

Langworthy adds there is still plenty of time for things to unfold before a final candidate is chosen. He notes you'll start to see campaigns fold over the coming months.

Langworthy says it's good to have more people involved in the process and more people take an interest in issues.

"Every candidate on that stage last night is superior to (Democrat) Hillary Clinton. I think we [Republicans] have an excellent chance to win the White House in 2016."
