Cuomo snubs Teachout as primary draws near

Governor Andrew Cuomo snubbed his Democratic primary opponent Zephyr Teachout at Saturday's Labor Day Parade in New York City.Teachout repeatedly tried to approach Cuomo and his running mate Kathy Hochul.  Twice, she was blocked by a Cuomo aide.  When Teachout said "hi," Cuomo still ignored her while shouting out, "Where's Mayor Bill de Blasio?"

Teachout later said she wanted to greet Cuomo as a courtesy.

At a brief news conference after the parade, Cuomo was asked about the incident.

“I know she was the parade, but I didn’t get a chance to talk to her,” he said.

Cuomo has been conspicuously absent in the campaign against Teachout.  He has left most of the campaigning to Hochul and has refused to debate Teachout.

The Democratic primary is Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Republican gubernatorial candidate Rob Astorino campaigned in Buffalo Saturday.  He held a rally in Niagara Square downtown where he promised supporters that he would repeal the state's new gun control law known as the SAFE Act.  He said the Second Amendment is part of the Constitution, and that "you can't skip amendments."
